I was just talking to some of my friends who I know download movies, and I was surprised to find out that many of them buy some of the movies that they download anyways. They say that they'll download it to watch it, and then if it was good enough they'll go and buy it. Just like the music they download. So it looks like the video production companies still have plenty to benefit from.

For me, the only movies i watch are pirated. If, somehow there were no pirated movies i would simply stop watching said movies. I'm not going to bother spending money on those things when i have bills to pay.

Frankly, pirated movies are pretty much better than anything being sold by the industry right now. I can download Transformers 2 weeks before its on DVD, and within 2 or 3 minutes slip that movie onto a thumb drive and give my dad a copy of it. Can you do that with DVDs/HD-DVDs/Blue-Rays? No, in fact sometimes you can't even watch those movies on your computer because they are locked down.

I MIGHT buy movies if they were sold online, and open completely for me to do anything i wanted with them, but right now it's just a waste of money.

Besides... those stupid dvds always have anti-piracy ads at the start that they force you to sit through... might as well just pirate the movie so you don't have to watch that trash...
