This adds to my already long list of Vista woes. But this time the blame is not fully on Microsoft.

It's borderline to me. I think that it should be viewed as an add-on to the driver since it is used to take full advantage of the hardware. Without it you are left with typical onboard sound.

It's been awhiel since I have bought a Creative card as well, and I think the last one was about 5-years ago. Surprisingly I have always been satisified with the onboard sound that my motherboards have.

I have a creative Audigy Value 2 and used to love its stereo up mixing to 5.1 surround, however there vista drivers don't support this (one of the main reasons i bought it) so now i use my on board realtek sound that uses the default in-built vista up mixing that gives me awesome 5.1 from my stereo music. Its a shame that creative don't even give you what vista gives by default. Now my Audigy 2 is used purely for my microphone as my on board has all its sockets taken.
