There have been countless times that I have been away from my printer and I say to myself “if I could just print this at home then I wouldn’t have to worry about saving it to my computer.” I always end up putting things off and it would make a huge difference to have the ability to immediately print a document no matter where I am. Well, there is finally a FREE way that you can do it and it is called Printer Anywhere.
This software is great because of how easy it is to use. If you know someone that isn’t too computer savvy then you can set this up for them and whenever you say “hey, checkout this document” you can just print it right on their computer. No need to worry about whether they will be able to open the email attachment.
The real question is whether this has a possibility of replacing the fax machine. If you could give someone your IP address or maybe a subdomain from printeranywhere.com such as ryanwagner.printeranywhere.com. All I would have to do then is give someone that address and they would be able to “fax” me the information that I want. No telephone line or fax machine is needed! Hey, I can dream can’t I?

How is this a replacment for fax? E-mail would be a better suited fax replacement. Just send the documents as an attached PDF. Why waste the ink and paper on something you don’t want. My company is all ready set up this way with anything sent to our fax number being received as an electronic file and forwarded as a pdf to an e-mail box. Employees can read faxes any where and they are easy to send between other employees.
I agree that faxing should go but the biggest reason I think it should go is to save paper and cut waste.
Remote printing does have a place that I can think of. Say I have 4 salesmen out working the streets they could use there laptops or pda’s to take an order and then without using any other software print the order in the warehouse. The limit to this is of course that everyone wants to track inventory and things like that but it could work on a small scale.
You’re right that email should be what replaces the fax but I think a lot of companies like to have the immediate hard copy, at least from my experience.
Also, that is a really good example of when remote printing would be extremely useful. Salesmen currently have to send the order in and then the warehouse prints it but if they could skip a step then maybe it would save some time! Nice one.

I downloaded and installed the program on both my laptop and PC and tried to print a document but it isn’t going through. I followed the directions, shared my printer, and it still didn’t print. I guess I’ll try this later.
I was wondering though, when I share my printer, it’s available for anyone who has this program to print on? Because when I search for printers I see lots of people in Russia and around the USA have this. So would they be able to just print something on my printer? Or do I have to agree to them printing it first? And lastly, is this program safe since anybody can just see my printer on their computer?
