With this, the only need for local storage space is for games, which is a smaller percentage of the market. It also makes sense seeing as most families are begining to own more than one PC, and it's a pain sharing large music or photo archives over a normal windows network. I have checked out 1TB NAS systems that are around $500. For the extra money, you get a full blown server with expandable storage.
