I'm not sure about your Internet Explorer problem because I have only heard about that happening with Firefox.

To download Firefox 2 I don't believe you will receive an update. Firefox 2 will be the first version that has the "major update" system available which will let you upgrade from previous versions. As far as I know this is not the same as the update system that is in Firefox 1.5

Some websites I visit on Mozilla Firefox work fine however, when I use Internet Explorer it says either the program is allready running. I have downloaded and installed it completely, and i prefer using IE better, because of tabs, and it's content. 8O

Please, I really need and answer.

[...] A brief discussion regarding Firefox memory issues came about on CyberNet News in regards to the Internet Explorer 7 Release About The Same As Firefox 2 article. One of the comments left by ‘Dave’: “In my opinion, we could see quite a few people move from Firefox to IE7. In the pre Firefox 1.5 days, there was this huge Firefox movement. But during the 1.5 builds, I’ve seen tons of people grow tired of the memory leaks and other bugs associated with Firefox such as the copy/paste bug.” [...]

IE7 is still FULL OF BUGS, and there is many software products (using embedded IE) which doesn't work well with IE7.
While Firefox 2 RC2 is, imho, production quality. :)

Flock is still based off of Firefox 1.5.* so I am sure it will still have some memory leaks. In fact there are a few memory leaks that Flock introduced themselves which has been one of the biggest complaints. To my knowledge they have not fixed them yet.

There have been a lot of extensions getting updated which is great to see. I am sure anything helps to reduce the cause of memory leaks.

Further, I noticed a huge reduction in the past couple weeks (right after RC1) which was about the time there was huge surge in extension updates.

Well, that is a negative stigma Firefox is going to have to change since these issues have been addressed and corrected in Firefox 2. I been using Firefox 2 as well now as my primary browser and have seen a huge difference in performance and the memory leaks seem to have been plugged now as well.</blockquote></div>
I agree, memory leaks now seem to be a thing of the past for me. Running Firefox on Windows Vista for two days straight without restarting and I'm at 125MB. It is still a little high because Opera hangs around 70MB but I never get up into the 300-400MB range anymore. Thank goodness!
