At least you'll have the compass if your using a 3gs.

The only catch with needing data is if your lost and don’t have cell signal. I can't wait for the jailbreak software to be compatible with the 3GS. I was waiting until 3.1 to jailbreak my 3GS (I had previously jailbroken my 3G) because I knew that it would be released shortly after 3.0.

I love xGPS since it uses Google Maps. I haven't used it much so I don't know how good it is, but hey, it's free.

For jailbroken iPhones there’s an app in Cydia called xGPS which provides turn-by-turn navigation with voice, and it’s free. Have been looking GPS App for long. Its interesting there are so many good but not very popular apps there.Found a interesting App called Click2Call which basically uses phonebook and then dials Vonage VOIP.Vonage VOIP is very useful and cheap if you make international Calls 30$ inclusive taxes 5000 minutes of calling - to landlines and cell phones to 40 plus countries.Skype is also good and SkypeIN is very useful. If possible can you share your experience with VOIP or review the Existing ones.

Good catch.
