The Internet is everywhere we go but the thing that we lack is a way to harness its power. Opera is looking to conquer that problem by releasing Opera for Devices. We knew that they were working on a browser for Nintendo DS but I was really surprised to see all of the other devices that they want to run Opera on:
- Nintendo Wii
- Nintendo DS
- Nokia 770
- NDS MediaHighway Advanced (Pilottime)
- Sony Mylo
- Archos PMA400
- Mood Box
- Thales TopSeries In-Flight Entertainment
- Sharp Zaurus
- Psion
- Amino Aminet 110
Opera is obviously very intelligent because they are trying to hit the mobile markets that no other companies seem to be entering. You may be thinking that there aren’t enough people that use these mobile devices for tasks like Web surfing but that is mostly because the right software doesn’t exist to make it productive. I have a feeling that we are going to see Opera popping up on all kinds of devices that we use everyday.
What’s that mean for their desktop Web browser? They would be really smart to synchronize settings between the mobile browsers and the desktop browser because more people would be inclined to download the desktop version. Synchronization of information is becoming increasingly important and I’m sure Opera isn’t going to lack that feature much longer.

May be I am wrong here, but I always thought Opera was MAC browser.
The Opera desktop version is for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Safari is the Mac browser.
Okay, Safari is what I was thinking of. Well, I will have to go check out Opera then.
If you just want to play with it real quick you should check out [opera-usb.com] so that you don’t have to install it.
Well since I don’t have a USB Pen Drive (it is on my to do-list, along with a portable MP3 player) I don’t think that will work. I have room on my hard drive to add another browser.
You actually don’t have to put it on a USB drive. I just downloaded it to my desktop and run it straight from there. That way I never have to worry about uninstalling it…just like the portable versions of Firefox.
Groovy I had no idea, well guess I’ll go do that.
