I don't know, everyone claims that Vista is the last straw but I don't understand why? XP had done the same kind of thing when it first came out...it was rocky to start but as more developers started taking advantage of some of it's capabilities and stability people really started to warm up to it. Vista is the same way, I can't wait to see what developers will come up with to take advantage of the WPF graphical enhancements but some of the things that have already been developed leave me nearly in awe. I guess that is just personal opinion, but I like the wide range of applications available on Windows to do almost anything.

You can force something to always run as an admin by right-clicking and going to Properties -> Compatibility -> Run This Program as an Administrator. You'll of course have to do that on the EXE file for WinRAR though.

However, I'm not sure if that is exactly what you're looking for because you will still receive the prompts every time that you run it, but this way you won't have to right-click and do Run As Administrator. The only way to get rid of the UAC prompt is to disable UAC all together.

As a fellow Vista user do you know how to set certain programs like winrar to automatically run as admin rather than getting a UAC prompt everytime?
