I love the new Ribbon in Microsoft Office 2007 which has now replaced the toolbars. The only bad part about it is the large amount of screen space that it occupies. Some people don’t realize that it can be minimized by pressing Ctrl+F1, right-clicking on the Ribbon and select “Minimize the Ribbon”, or double-clicking on the selected tab. That has sufficed for me up until they announced the clever concept of auto-hiding the Ribbon.
I never really thought of doing that but it is sheer genius! If you click on one of the tabs, make a selection, and move your mouse away it will retrieve that screen space that we never seem to have enough of.
This new feature will be available in the next Office 2007 update which I am really anxious to get now. Nice one Microsoft!

I love Office 2007 myself, and its cool ribbon is what makes all the difference. They’ve really worked out the interface beautifully, and it’s a pleasure to work with. While I understand some people are concerned with screen space (on laptops, for example), it’s really not bad at all on a 17″ or a 19″ monitor.
