Microsoft has been testing a new homepage ever since last July and they finally felt it was ready to unleash the glamorous page onto the world. I was assuming that the new site would be available to all of the different languages that visit Microsoft.com but when I checked out others, like the French one for example, and it is still the same old thing. If they were going to launch a new site they should have made it universal…and not only that but other product pages, like Windows Media Player, are still stuck with the old design.
I love the new homepage and think it does a good job of demonstrating the creativity of Microsoft’s Web designers, but the launch was a little premature in my opinion. Right now the first thing that I would think when clicking on a link is that I was just taken to an external site since the two design schemes are so different. I wonder if they even have plans to makeover the rest of the site?
