Microsoft Office 2007 Beta 2 TR Download Available


Office 2007 Logo The 495MB file Office 2007 TR has been made available for download. Thanks to Mark who sent me an email providing the direct download link without the need for WGA validation.

This version is compatible with Windows Vista RC1 which is great news. But besides for that it also has whole host of new features:

If you do not have a product key from Beta 2 then you can purchase it for $1.50.

Paul Thurrott has a great review already posted on the Technical Refresh and it has a few screenshots. To get a review that long written up he must have gotten his hands on it a little early since it was just released 40 minutes ago…and I have 10 minutes left on my download. ;)

    I am already downloading! With the direct link. So: I will have to pay 1.50usd for a key if I want to use it? (If so, I should stop the download.) Are there any tricks as for Vista RC1 for a (free) key, in case is need it? With my 60KB/s speed, I will have it in 2 1/2 hours.

    Unfortunately you will need to pay in order to get a key. I don’t have any extras either. :( Sorry.

    If you search for B2TR under
    [microsoft.com]
    then you also find single update files,
    e.g. For Sharepoint Server 2007:
    [microsoft.com]

    I have always used the two versions side-by-side before so this shouldn’t be any different.

    With the full B2TR (495MB) I get ‘insufficient disk space’ after accepting licence terms ..

    B2TR for Sharepoint Server says: need B2TR for WSS3

    B2TR for WSS3 says: Need new version of Workflow Foundation, which is in .NET Framework 3.0

    Everything correct. It seems they done a few test on the upgrade .. :D

    I just finished downloading the file and you do need Beta 2 installed because this is just an update. It looks like BetaNews was wrong yesterday when they said you would have to uninstall previous versions before installing this one.

    Hey, I was just wondering whether I can recover my Beta 2 key somehow? I got a key when Beta 2 was released and didn’t think I would download another Office 2007 Beta until the release, but now I want to download this. Is there some way to find my key that I used before?

    I looked into recovering your key but I can’t find anything that will work. :( Maybe you could give Microsoft a call and they might be able to retrieve your key using the product ID?

    i have almost 2gigs free on my system drive and this refresh wont update beta2 :-( says “insufficant space” …grrrr come on! i have to buy a new hardrive damn! lol

    Open one of the Office products, such as Word. Go to the menu and select the “Word Options”. Then go to the Resources option and then About. That will tell you the product ID.
