Vista Updates not on Patch Tuesday

Microsoft shipped several new updates today via the Windows Update system for both XP and Vista. Typically these updates are only sent out on the second Tuesday of each month, which is referred to as Patch Tuesday, but each year Microsoft throws a few curve balls and pushes out updates outside of their schedule. These were therefore released two-weeks after the last Patch Tuesday, and two weeks before the next Patch Tuesday…so are these to be considered early or late? :)

Included in the slew of updates for Vista are the performance and compatibility packs that Microsoft released three weeks ago (these two updates are listed below in bold). Those two packs combined fix over 20 issues, including slow file transfers, poor memory management, AVI corruption, and numerous issues related to the display drivers. Unfortunately Microsoft did not label these updates as "important," which means you may have to go into the Windows Update and manually select them to have them installed.

Below is an individual list of all the updates Microsoft published for XP and Vista, as well as links to download them manually. There’s a high probability that some of the updates listed here won’t apply to your computer, and therefore won’t show up during the Windows Update process.
