Woah. Did you say Vista users? That’s an interesting thought. How about XP users? The general consensus (right or wrong - I’ve read arguments on both sides but I don’t really care) seems to be that Vista is terrible. So it shouldn’t be too hard to pull people away from Vista. The question is more like what about XP. Will security, drivers, and DX11 finally convince the diehard XP-ers? We can only hope so…

That's a good point, and I should have definitely mentioned XP users in there. Personally I wouldn't say that Vista is terrible, but I do realize that some people have had bad experiences.

I've tried to "switch" to Linux several times, and there is always some piece of hardware that just doesn't work right. You can spend hours trying to get everything running the way you want, but I don't think it should take that much time to do that. It really is the vendors' faults though.

@mrcool10
Vista terrible? That's what say most of those who didn't even try it.
So they become diehard XP users. Kinda conservatism? Kinda fear ?
Vista sp1 always updated is much more reliable than XP sp2 or 3.
Windows 7 will be the best OS Microsoft ever made.

With 7 to 8 years lead, Windows Mobile still sucks. Great we have the Photoshop ideas and it is delayed another year. They may need that time to copy the iPhone, Blackberry and Android some more without any success. How cares anymore about this garbage? I sure don't. After being out there so long you would think that Microsoft could do better. I own a Blackberry that replaced my Windows Mobile piece of junk (and yes, I do mean the software) and I now also have an iPhone that is 99 years ahead of Windows Mobile and 88 years ahead of the Blackberry.

Microsoft needs to rethink and rewrite Windows as a small nimble application. Windows 7 is more of the same decades old, resource draining, bloat that's eventually going to succumb to mobile and small footprint computing.

I think they kinda started going there with Vista, but just didn't have the time to get the OS polished like they probably should have. Now I'm just wondering what must-have features they can come out with that will really make Vista users want to upgrade.
