Firefox Logo Mozilla has placed the official release of Firefox 1.5.0.7 on their FTP for download. Typically I would just link to the FTP and tell you to go find your language but I figured I do this so much now that I should come up with a better way. I don’t think I could do it much easier than this:

I probably don’t even need to explain how to use to it since it’s so simple. :D

Mozilla is yet to make the release notes page available and they have not updated the fixed security vulnerabilities page either.

I’m sure the “What’s New” section will look something like

Well, I hope you like the new download option I put together. Let me know if you see a mistake in it.

Update:
Thunderbird has also been updated to 1.5.0.7…thanks to the commenters who noticed this!
  1. Direct FTP links are a very bad practice that are killing our FTP server since it prevents distribution of the server load on our FTP mirrors.

Furthermore, Firefox 1.5.0.7 has NOT been released yet.

  2. Ummm, those are not direct FTP links. They are using the load balancing URL’s. You obviously didn’t try one of the download links.

  3. I usualy install Firefox in English, but since you’ve been so kind and provide us the chance to choose the language and OS, I choose&downloaded Firefox for Windows in my native language. And yep, it’s working.

So thanks Ryan for this special way of downloading FF. (I’ve just notice that on Mozilla.com it’s still 1.5.0.6. But my About window – sorry, no more “About”, but “Despre”, in my language – says now: 1.5.0.7!)

  4. Glad it worked for you Radu :)

I pretty much went down the list of languages that they have on their “[mozilla.com] page and I used the exact same URL structure. So it is pretty much like you are downloading straight from there it is just that they haven’t gotten around to updating it yet.

  5. I’m pretty sure that if Mozilla didn’t want people downloading the files, no matter what way, they wouldn’t put them up on any site or FTP.

Good work keeping us up to date Ryan :)

Great idea with the ‘widget’ that make it almost fool proof and great for people who are not comfortable navigating through the FTP server.

  7. I’m glad you like the ‘widget’ that I added. It took me a little while to design it but I should be able to use it very easily in the future releases.

  8. I just installed FF 1.5.0.7 and now it crashes every time I load it… can’t be good for all the people I spread Firefox to if this is happening to them…

I’ll have to wait and see but anyone else having this problem??

  9. Someone neglected to mention that Thunderbird was also updated to 1.5.0.7.

Well I did mention on [ffextensionguru.wordpress.com] about Thunderbird 1.5.0.7 being available. I suppose ‘they’ choose to just mention Firefox being it is more popular and widely used than Thunderbird.

  11. I didn’t look to see if Thunderbird was updated because it was originally scheduled to be released a few days after Firefox, so I wasn’t expecting it. Thanks for letting me know though.

  12. How about a portable version ?

Well way back when they first [ffextensionguru.wordpress.com] the 1.5.0.7 updates, Thunderbird wasn’t even going to be done. Last I had seen was the 12th for Firefox and the 14th for Thunderbird then they suddenly decided to do both at the same time along with SeaMonkey and Camino.
