Great news, Lets hope that they’ll build Live Writer with XHTML compliance.

I was just looking through the Live Writer forums and noticed this from a programmer on the project:

Please help me understand why XHTML support is so crucial to our users that it should trump all other features. The fact is that most users have no idea what XHTML is. None of the major blogging platforms support authoring in XHTML in their WYSIWYG web forms. There’s no browser that I know of that will fail to properly render standard HTML even if the DTD and MIME type indicate XHTML. And when we were working on the first version of Writer, none of the major blogging platforms were even using XHTML for their templates (although most of them are now–though the Blogger guys have told me it’s just to get IE out of quirks mode).

I’m not saying we’re not going to support XHTML, we definitely want to, and I’m fighting hard to get it into our next release. I just don’t see why it’s so incredible that we don’t support already. If there’s something I’m missing here, please let me know!
