MyBlogLog’s marketing materials are awful. I had a similar experience with the service. I turned on ‘comment faces’ without realising by ticking a box on the MyBlogLog site, and suddenly a day later gravatar type images started appearing on my comments if a user was registered!

I didn’t mind as I think they look quite cool, and don’t slow my pages down. You should give it a go and see if oyu like it.

They offer a lot of things that you can customize to make it blend well. There is typically some kind of header above the pictures but if you leave the text blank then it will remove the header. That way I was able to use my own that matched the rest of the sidebars.

I haven't tried that but it would cost me $9 a month which is a little more than I would want to pay. $3 seems pretty reasonable for a blog-focused statistics tracking package.
