"If contractors built skyscrapers the way programmers wrote code, the first well fed robin to fly over a city could totally destroy it!"

I echo with quote #5. Information technology has done so much good to mankind, I don’t imagine our civilization without it. However, I think it could be further focused on helping poor nations to raise their life standards. Africa is a good example.

CyberNet is doing a lot to promote this area. You and Ryan are doing a wonderful job spreading the word. I read your site at least five to ten times each day. There is always something new. Thanks a lot and Merry Christmas to both of you.

I know, I started using it as my signature on the forums a week ago. :)

> “UNIX is basically a simple operating system, but
> you have to be a genius to understand the simplicity.”
> Dennis Ritchie
Here's the thing: I think that people are afraid of change and that they don't want to learn to work with some unknown OS if they already know how to do the same stuff on Windows. Over the course of a year, I've noticed how it's actually easier to use the command line than to use apps with a GUI. It's just one of these "you gotta see it to believe it" things. That of course doesn't mean that I prefer a text-based browser over Firefox. :D

'I can’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t want a computer in your home."

I can- price.

Not that the benefits don't outweigh the issues, but still.

I love number three and the truth that lies within it! Number four reminded me of another one of my favourite quotes...

<I>There are two major products that came out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.</I>

I think Ballmer's "Developers x 1000" quote speaks volumes, don't you think?

I've tried to grasp Unix for many years but it still eludes me. Has anyone tried using Unix whilst high? Does it help?
