I've been playing around with it and it definitely feels a little snappier than Vista. I had an extra 80GB ide hdd and tested it. It's better than vista in some aspects, but for an intensive use of mine, it still requires a lot of tweaking and modding. I am getting more into Ubuntu (still a casual curious user), and had a Vista Homecrap on my current laptop from factory, but wipped it out as it arrived home and replaced it with a Vista Premium SP1 (wonder where it came from (sarcasm)) . After some time with it on a not so intensive use, the conclusion was : VISTA Sucks. I hadn't such number of blue screens / crashes / rebootings since windows 98 (the ME factor hadn't been on this side ever). The HDD access when you have a lot of files was horribly slow, even with all extra functions deactivated. Anyway XP stills up. Windows 7, looks better ... but i doubt that will be replacing on a short period my XP's ... and i wonder ... how deep will i be at Ubuntu at that time !? Even when XP arrived i still take a medium period of time to get into XP, but hadn't the same kind of issues that Vista delivered ... So, come Windows 7, but be great ... or else ... I was using a download manager assuming the file would be in the one spot for the beta period. Why they would move it around...well, that's anyone's guess. Anyways, I've decided to download the latest Ubuntu and play around with that instead. Windows 7 is really just going to be Vista Updated - I don't see much different in there.
