We always find it interesting when someone mentions in a comment how long they’ve been reading CyberNet. Our curiosity led us to start a new poll asking that very question. Before we get into that, we thought now would be a good time to share some of our stats after 2 years and 3 months (CyberNet launched in December, 2005):

  • Over 4,915 articles have been posted
  • Over 26,984 comments have been left
  • Over 3,626 people have become registered users

Ryan was the sole writer and did it as a hobby (his first post) until June 5, 2006 when he convinced me to give it a try (my first post). The rest is history and we’ve both maintained the site since. A big thanks to all of you who read and contribute to CyberNet! We wouldn’t be around if it weren’t for you…

With that, how long have you been reading CyberNet? You can vote in the sidebar or in the poll below if you have Flash installed. Options include:

  • 2+ years
  • 1-2 years
  • 6 months-1 year
  • 1-6 months
  • Less than one month

I read this blog everyday when I have internet (and I don’t have internet very few-few-few days per year). It’s great. A true inspiration for us. Keep up the good job.

I registered back on Sept 1st, 2006, but I think I was reading a little prior to that. I know I found y’all whilst I was looking for information on a release date for Firefox 2.

I found your site when I was trying to find ways to slow down the memory usage of Firefox. Ryan had written a great article on how to cut the memory consumption when you minimize Firefox [cybernetnews.com]

After reading that article I was hooked.

    @Ashley:

Unfortunately I found out about your site only a couple of months back. Since then I’m hooked and enjoy every single day. You and Ryan have so much to teach us.

Thank you very much for your guidance. CyberNet News is one of the best websites I’ve ever encountered.

    Keep up the excellent work!

    Regards,

    Omar.-

Since early 2006 (Possibly Late January)

It seems I read your website/forum more and more as every day passes

Glancing at the results so far shows that more than half of you have been reading our site for over a year! That’s crazy, and I’m glad to see we’re able to retain readers.

I also have a lot of appreciation for everyone who participates in our forum and commenting on the blog. You help make our community one of a kind!

I’d rather consider frequency than time. Since I’ve discovered Cybernet, perhaps 2-3 months ago, I have subscribed to its RSS feed that I read at least twice a day as I do with the feeds I consider the most interesting. From those feeds I’d say that I continue ‘full story’ on perhaps 1 link out of 2.

I don’t recall the exact time, but it’s about a year and a half.

CyberNet is my favorite technology site, I especially like all the Firefox articles and other software tips but the general news articles as well since you usually have your own viewpoint there instead of just repeating the news like some other sites.

I registered in January 2007 but had been a subscriber for a long time before that. I can’t remember how I originally found the site, probably through a link on another blog but I remember being an active reader from the beginning and the quality has only gone up since.

So thanks a lot for the great articles; although I don’t write comments very often I really appreciate your work.

That’s true, though I have been reading the site for close to 2 years, I only registered this year. I hadn’t thought about that.

Came across your site around the time IE7 was finalized and I entered the world of RSS feeds. Have been reading ever since! Keep up the great work!

I have been reading every day for about 2 years. This site is great! I would like to see some articles on tweaking windows and power tools! We all need power tools!

I started reading in January 2006 as far as I remember, introduced by TheBaron. I also seem to remember that I was the first regular commenter on the site :D

Wow, with over 300 votes now it still looks like a majority of you have been reading us for over a year!

I do believe you were our first regular commenter. Before you it was pretty much a hit and miss for people leaving comments.

Since I’ve discovered you, I believe you are the most successful RSS feed I am subscribed to. I think I read about 3 out of 4 of your stories. The quality is just great, and as said before in the comments: you don’t just copy the news but add your own, quality remarks. I think that I would even pay for a subscription to your site :P
