I love that “reload every” feature as well. You can also use it with the sites on your speed dial page so that those refresh periodically as well.

I changed my mind and added the “optimized filter to block most ads” from that site. No noticeable difference in performance, yet nearly all ads are gone. The best part is the site often fills in where the ad was, so I don’t just have a big blank space in the site (no better than an ad in my opinion). Also, I’m really getting hooked on that “reload every…” feature. I keep Y! TV always open, and now I can just set it to reload every 30min and so I never have to manually scroll the listings, they’re always on the current time

One annoyance. If I use the view toolbar (button on right), and change tabs, I find myself having to click the button several times to hide the bar again (once for each tab). If I close the view bar in one tab, it should be closed in every tab.

If you right-click and hit Block Content, a toolbar shows up that says “Click on content you want to block. to block a specific element, shift+click.”

I was wondering if there were filter lists to subscribe to, like ABP. Those are very important because there are so many ads to block. Wait, I checked that site and it says “Large urlfilter.ini file will increase startup time of Opera.” Nevermind.

I actually don’t block ads in Opera so I’m not 100% sure what you need to do it. There are content filters from what I’ve read and you can get the filter list from here:
[my.opera.com]

And I’m not sure what the difference is with shift clicking, other than if you do it on a link it opens in a new tab. All of the keyboard shortcuts and mouse gestures can be configured in the options though.

Use opera:config in the address bar to access almost all of the options, and just type bittorent in the search box.

When blocking content (ads) in Opera, what’s the difference between clicking something and shift clicking something?

Hey, just ran simultaneous downloads of the same torrent file ~350MB in both Opera and Fx w/ FireTorrent. Opera won hands down! I actually didn’t realize that Opera was done, at first. By the time I realized it Fx still had over 2/3 to go!

One other thing, I can’t find a way to adjust torrent preferences except for from the button when starting a torrent download. Options in Opera are definitely harder to find.

K, I re-installed Opera. The site is mostly usable, but messenger is not, it’s noticeably slower, and actions don’t go thru occasionally. Messenger alone is enough to make it not an option.

Everything worked quickly and properly? When I tried, I would click a message in a folder and it would still say something like “want to view one of those messages up there…click on it.” Eventually it would load up. Actions were done very slowly if ever.

So you’re using the Opera 9.22 you linked to, not a testing version? That’s what I was on. To check your Y!MB version, hold alt and click on the Y!MB logo. You can also view page source and it should say it at the bottom (then you can copy and paste). Also, what’s your farm? It says that after the f in the address bar and as the first 3 digits after “web” in version info box.
