Very interesting. I suppose there are two pictures one over the other moving simultaneously. If you'll focus to the floor where is the shadow of the foot, you'll see that the dancer can't even do a whole spin. It balances left to right and vice-versa. Only when you loose the focus to the floor and look even for one second to the top, the dancer will make a whole spin. Very tricky.

While looking for images of the brain for my psychology class,I came upon this site. Prsesently studying history of Cognitive Psychology (and neuroscience), I find this is excellent site to have the entire class observe and discuss the dancer; right side and left side of brain activity--perception. I was fortunate to be able to see both directions and actually control which direction(after much concentration and distraction)I wanted to view.
Reading the comments was very informative. some participants expressing paranoia, denial and plain old confusion---Very Wundt-like in describing what they observed.
Thanks Cybernet,
CarLiLu :D

Close your eyes every second or so when she's in the middle of the turn to see her switch direction all the time

hi,
i can make her turn C or CC when i want to,
i also noticed that when she is turning C, she is jumping on her left leg and when she is turning CC she is jumping on her right leg.

i don't know how it works but i can tell you what i focus on when trying to change her 'direction'.

well, to do it i just focus on the reflection of her foot and that way it's easier to make her change the direction.
i think it can be a key(just looking at her feet) to learn to turn her at will.
i wonder if this type of excercise, changing her direction, is a good training for a brain and if it enhances our abilities like ex. solve some problems easier or notice/get some things faster.

For those that read the text first and want it to be going counter, it probably will.</blockquote></div>
I don't know about that. I tried pretty darn hard to get it to go both ways, but there was no hope for me.

I did it as if I was looking down on the figure.
