I don't visit Digg as much as I used to earlier, now it's sort of fallen apart over the years, but I still do once in a while and wouldn't like Google to acquire it. :|

Not that I think it would change much, I think Digg has really gone downhill in many ways, from compromising their principles, to privacy issues with their site, to ignoring the corruption among its users on the site.

</blockquote></div>
We've been disappointed with the direction Digg has gone as well, and it's unfortunate.

I'd like to see Digg stay independent, however media consolidation is an unfortunately regular occurrence especially with IT and media companies.

Not that I think it would change much, I think Digg has really gone downhill in many ways, from compromising their principles, to privacy issues with their site, to ignoring the corruption among its users on the site.

Anyways, as always this is from TechCrunch the leader in Internet propaganda and linkbaiting. ;) Arrington has made like 10-20 posts like this, none of which have come to fruition. Any such post by Arrington isn't even worth being called speculation, but rather fabrication.

Let's just say, I'll believe it when I see it.

Buying small and cheap innovative start-ups is less expensive than investing large sums of cash in R&D. All the big companies have been hunting for smart small companies to take advantage of their innovations. At the same time, these small companies are looking for deep pockets to help them develop their idea-products.

Same here. It seems like a lot of independent sites have been getting snatched up by bigger companies lately.
