I think it is also because American’s are cheap (to put it nicely). We are always looking for the best deal and many consumers could care less if their phone can take pictures…they just want to talk on it.

Yep, I had a camera phone for a while…piece of junk. Besides unlike some people I use my cell phone to make and receive calls…I don’t text, I don’t surf the web, etc…

Also, it’s true that Asia and Europe have faster networks, higher resolution cameras, and all-around better, more advanced technology. This phone will never make it to the US . Why is that? Isn’t America the world’s largest technology market? What does this say about how corporations view Americans technology demands? I think they believe that, to Americans, style is more important than power. They might be right. After all, PCMag says in their article:

I guess this is a case of form over function.

Now that you said that…it made me wonder how long it would take to send a full-size picture to someone using the phone. I have a feeling that it would be pretty awful.

Not in places like Japan and S.K., where they have advanced cell phone bandwidth. They’ve had EDGE and EVDO like data capabilities for awhile, and American markets are just starting to really push mobile broadband. Those asian markets have had those 5 and 6 MP cameraphones for awhile and can send those files pretty fast.
