You can have all your delicious bookmarks be private by default. It is a setting you choose on the delicious site, though--not in the extension.

@Chad: Thanks for pulling up the answers to the questions for those people!

Britewood wrote:
Why not just create folders and place your links in them. It makes a pulldown menu with folder specific bookmarks. Great for space saving and easy bookmark finding with unlimited potential

That's true but a lot of people like to minimize the number of clicks they have to make before opening a bookmark, and having folders adds an additional click. I know, it sounds kinda ridiculous but I know several companies who go through click optimizations to make sure users have to perform the least number of clicks possible to get the job done, so it really is important.

Here's an alternative that requires you to simply add some code to your userChrome.css (unless you have Stylish):

I remove the name of the bookmarks and keep only the favicon. Is a simple but effective way of gain space in the bookmarks toolbar. But Smart Bookmarks is a great option too.

Most of my bookmarks are in del.icio.us. I do use the Firefox extension because it doesn't really bother me that the bookmarks aren't private by default. Most of my bookmarks aren't private. I tried Foxmarks on a separate Firefox installation and thought it was a really good service. I might eventually sync my bookmarks (from my main Firefox install) with Foxmarks. I did try Gmarks before and didn't like it for whatever reason, even though I usually love Google's services.
