What like the most is that besides of being able to convert videos it can also plays Internet Media Streams which is what I always use…I’m loving it…

IMHO, anyone foolish enough to voluntarily do what the SUPER developers demand and KevinH suggests, i.e., “disable your antivirus (and antispyware realtime shield if you use it), turn off indexing on your hard drive” deserves to have their computer comandeered by hackers.

IMHO, all Chinese sites and developers have been tainted by the PC intrusions an unapologetic govt-sponsored Chinese hackers actively and aggressively commit. I have to wonder why there are so many converters being dumped on the global market that scores of anonymous posters tout. (for instance, Format Factory) Could there be a plot to infect as many gullible users’ PCs as possible with some sort of back door trojan that will then be simultaneously enabled at some future date? Scoff if you will, it is a serious possibility. Requests to disable firewalls, scripting limitations, and forced automatic updates, etc. just add fuel to my suspicion. I think they’re capitalizing on a human weakness to get something for nothing. Only time will tell how much the hackers can manage to steal, corrupt or disrupt. And, they’re known to be very patient.

I have security concern about Super. Google it and you will see forums where literally hundreds of people sharing experiences and warnings about Super, which apparently checks for update for itself all the time and will always FORCES update (otherwise apparently will stop working or worse, damage the computer by installing virus), apparently in order to install spyware/virus on the computer.

I could be wrong but the website give me alarms alarms and more alarms; I don’t trust a program that nags to update itself. Neither do I trust a download page that repeats again and again that the software does not include virus/trojan and in the same time discourage people from downloading their software from anywhere other than the poorly designed site itself.

Be careful as in what program install and all the privates files you have – this program (and other malicious ones) can basically call home over the internet and transmit all your data.

I would not install this program myself unless I”m in a virtual machine where I can simply restore the system.

It’s better if you download a codec for use with Super, and to be sure you download it from the main programmer’s site, because the ones you find floating around the web will have trojans and all sorts of nasty stuff in ‘em. This program is Super like Super Battle Franky from One Piece.

Thanks for the tips Kevin. I’ve noticed that Super doesn’t always work with some of the formats I try to convert and installing the K-Lite codec pack would probably help. Lately though I’ve been uploading files to ZamZar to be converted since most of them are just a few MB anyway.

I’ve used Super for quite a while. It really is great for a free app. It does have some issues, some options aren’t available if you don’t have the right codecs installed and it doesn’t always produce the correct resolutions It can also suffer from audio sync issues particularly with large files such as DIVX movie conversions to Mpeg. It doesn’t do a great job of PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL, this is where you’ll probably notice the audio sync issues most. In fact the only program I have found that doesn’t really suffer audio sync issues when doing conversion between TV standards is ConvertXtoDVD but then that does one job (converts to DVD) and isn’t free.

If you really want to get the best out Super install the K-Lite mega codec pack first then Super, disable your antivirus (and antispyware realtime shield if you use it), turn off indexing on your hard drive and you’ll find it suffers less from minor performance issues, especially audio sync issues. Just remember to re-enable your antivirus and spyware when done.
