Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the blue in Office 2007 either. I always switch it to silver or black. Hopefully we can do the same with these apps.

Otherwise it looks quite promising I guess. Any word on whether or not it will handle PNG’s properly and will it finally include layers? Otherwise I may as well keep trying to reskin Paint.NET for OS integration.

I was expecting that to happen at some point as well. Generally speaking I think Paint.NET is too much for most people, and that this new version of Paint will be just what everyone needs. It will definitely be better than the current Paint.

I would definitely like to see the menubar fade into darkness, but I think it will still be needed for some apps. Certain programs don't seem to fit in well with a ribbon-style interface.

Looks cool. I think menubarless is the way to go. MS is really the pioneer on this front, w/ WinExplorer, Office, IE7… Google Chrome’s masterful take on this is probably the biggest reason I prefer it.

I’m still waiting for Microsoft to announce the killer feature that lets you control (or launch) any program using a keyboard shortcut and then typing in natural language. Fingers crossed anyway.

And has any one noticed that the office/paint button has changed so that it now looks rather confusingly like another tab on the ribbon.

Ryan, Ryan, Ryan! Is that tongue in cheek? You really think most people want a “Ribbon” Paint and Wordpad over an OS that’s non-bloat, responsive, not a memory hog, file copying actually works….etc. etc. need I go on?
