Apple's big "Let's Rock" event just finished up and as expected, the iPod Nano stole the show. As you can see from the picture above, the new Nano is longer and has some more rounded features, but it also comes in a whole rainbow of colors sure to please anyone.

Get Ready for New iPods

Apple is predictable when it comes to iPods. For the last several years, they have launched new iPods in September, conveniently, right before the holiday season. This was the case last year, as well as in 2006 and 2005. Once again this year, in 2008, new iPods are expected. September 9th (a Tuesday) in San Francisco at 10 AM is the big day. So what can we expect?

Apple Acknolwedges Issues with 1st Gen iPod Nano

First generation iPod Nano owners may have a little more to worry about than the simple fact their devices are going on three years old. Japan's trade ministry recently blamed the battery in the 1st gen iPod nano's for causing three fires. In addition to the fires, there were two cases of people getting burned from them, just in Japan.

Free Wikipedia iPhone App Launches

Ever since Apple's App Store launched, we have been waiting for a free app to view Wikipedia articles. Up until today, the only Wikipedia application for the iPhone that we knew of was called iWik, but you had to pay for it. Today Wikipanion launches, it's nearly perfect, and it's free.

Once again, Apple has unexpectedly released an updated version of the iPhone firmware. Version 2.0.2 was released last evening, but not many details were provided as to what the update included, other than it "fixes bugs." Which bugs you ask? Well, we're not quite sure.

MobileMe Users Are Going Phishing

As though MobileMe users haven't had enough issues do deal with since the service launched with outages, incorrect descriptions of the service, and more, and now many of those users are going phishing. What we mean by that is, hundreds of MobileMe users are getting caught up in a phishing scam that targets the service, and they are giving out their credit card information.

Best Buy To Start Selling The iPhone 3G

Last year about this same time, rumor had it that Apple was preparing to allow their "revolutionary" iPhone to be sold in Best Buy stores. One site, AppleInsider said on August 3rd, 2007,." Interestingly enough, Best Buy never did get the opportunity to sell the original iPhones in their stores last year but they just might get the opportunity to sell iPhone 3G's this year.

MobileMe and Gmail Outage Yesterday

Yesterday was a day of outages for MobileMe and Gmail. Apple's MobileMe, which had a rocky introduction to begin with, saw a four and a half hour mail outage yesterday. MacRumors mentioned this outage yesterday but also took a look at MobileMe's overall uptime which is about 96%. That's not an impressive number when you put it into perspective.
