Back in the beginning of June at WWDC, Apple announced that they would be replacing their .Mac service with a new service called MobileMe. They described it as "Exchange for the rest of us" and said users would have push email, contacts and calendars.
There's been a lot of missed iPhone 3G news while we were gone, so we wanted to make sure we kept everybody up-to-date with this round-up post. We'll include information from a few reviews, information about how much the iPhone 3G costs to make, what it looks like under the shiny black (or white) case, a couple of tips, and info about why it might be a pain in the butt to return a defective phone.
So today we took the plunge along with thousands of other people and bought the iPhone 3G. As we mentioned earlier today, we did this only because we were able to sell our original iPhones that we bought in January for $399, on eBay for $425. We sold them three days before the WWDC Keynote, so we've been without our phones for about a month.
It's the iPhone 3G Launch Day today and it wouldn't be complete without some humor! In about two hours (from the time this posts) at 8 AM, Apple and AT&T Stores in the U.S. will be opening their doors to all of the people willing to sign-up for a two-year contract.
Remember Fake Steve Jobs? He's got a blog, it's a parody, and acts as Steve Jobs. We have mentioned him a few times already because some of the content he writes is just hilarious. Last year about this time was when everybody was trying to figure out who he was.
The next 24 hours is going to be pure chaos for Apple fans, and the madness started early this morning when Apple released iTunes 7.7. That was then followed by the App Store launch, then a "leaked" iPhone 2.0 firmware, and more. It's madness I tell you.

It was an interesting day for Apple stock yesterday. Durning Steve Jobs' keynote at WWDC we saw their stock go up and down as the time went on, and eventually once the keynote was over, it just stayed down for a while. It has now been over a month since Ryan and I purchased our first ever Mac computers. After about a week we gave you our first impressions and mentioned a few things that we liked and other things that were taking some time to get used to. With the WWDC conference quickly approaching, rumors are running rampant about not only the next iPhone, but also when the App Store will launch. News.com is reporting that Apple is ready to launch the first app on Monday and so people are drawing the conclusion that the App Store will launch on Monday as well.
Apple is trying to sweet-talk college students into spending their hard-earned cash (or their parents' hard-earned cash) on a new Mac computer this year. Starting now until September 15th, those students who purchase a Mac computer will be able to receive an iPod Touch for free after rebate. Remember ICQ, some of you may still use it today but back in the mid 90's it was one of the first instant messengers to really take-off and become popular. Shortly after, AOL's Instant Messenger became a hit followed by others developed by Microsoft and Yahoo. Eventually we saw clients introduced that supported multiple protocols like Pidgin, Trillian, Digsby, and Adium.
For Mac users, Apple has released the update, Mac OS X 10.5.3. You've probably already seen the update available for download in the Software Update, but you may not be aware of what this new update does.
It's always interesting to see the patents that different technology companies file because sometimes (not always), it gives us an idea of what's to come. The latest patent filed by Apple is for "solar cells on portable devices" which gives us an idea that they just might be solar cells to the iPhone and/or iPods.
