CyberNotes: Assign Driver Letters to Folders in Windows

On your computer there are probably just a handful of folders that you access everyday, and wouldn't it be nice to make them even easier to access? One way to do that is to assign your most used folders to drive letters on your Windows machine, which puts them just a click away from your mouse.

CyberNotes: CyberSearch Firefox Extension

Yesterday we announced the new Firefox extension that we launched called CyberSearch (our homepage for CyberSearch). It is based on the original version of AwesomeSearch (now called Searchery), and the reason I decided to create the extension was because I saw how it could make me more productive. Hopefully what I've come up with can be useful for you as well.

CyberNotes: Sticky Notes for your Windows Desktop

Windows only Sticky notes are one of those things that many of us have grown accustomed to placing all over our physical workspace, and our children. They serve as a great way to remember important things, but eventually you have so many of them that it becomes difficult to find what you're looking for. That pretty much defeats their purpose, doesn't it?

Helpful Tip: Add More Speed Dials in Opera 9.5

I never thought Opera was going to make this possible, but I'm pleased to say that in the new Opera 9.5 you can actually customize how many Speed Dial entries are shown at any one given time! They are so incredibly useful that I've found myself needing more than the nine that comes standard in the browser.

CyberNotes: How to Rotate Background Wallpapers

Windows only One of the things that I thought was pretty cool with my Mac was that it lets you rotate your desktop backgrounds at set intervals using images on your computer. That got me wondering what kind of solutions are available for Windows users that do something similar, and what I happened to stumble upon is a real gem.

CyberNotes: Add the Date To Mac Menubar Clock

Mac only When on a Windows computer one of the things I always did was make the Taskbar twice the normal height. The reason I did that was because it would then show the date in addition to the time, which is something I use quite regularly. Sure I could have hovered my mouse over the time to see the same information, but that often took more time than was necessary.

CyberNotes: Best IE7 Scripts

One of the most popular extensions for Firefox is Greasemonkey simply because it gives developers and users a chance to customize their browsing experience with very little work. The extension has been downloaded over 165,000 times which is pretty incredible, and new scripts that power the extension are always being created.

CyberNotes: Informer is the Ultimate Yahoo Widget

It's not often that I come across a single widget/gadget that is good enough to constitute it's own article, and I never expected to find one that would be good enough for its own CyberNotes article. When I tried out Informer, a Yahoo Widget, I was absolutely blown away at everything it could do. It's almost an entire application in itself!

CyberNotes: Add Toolbars to Your Desktop

One of the things that I've come to realize with using a computer is that you can never have too many ways to launch an application. The Quick Launch bar is probably one of the most famous ways of doing so, and I've seen people who have a Quick Launch bar that takes up more than 50% of the Taskbar. Crazy, I know.

DeskScapes 2.0 Preview Now Available

Stardock has started to deliver the DeskScapes 2.0 Preview yesterday to anyone that wants to give it a whirl. Previously DeskScapes was a way for Vista Ultimate users to extend the functionality of Dreamscene, but now it works on any version of Vista without needing Dreamscene. It's a great way to have an animated desktop background on your Vista machine, oh, and did I say that it's free?

CyberNotes: Customize Firefox Sidebars

One of the areas that I've always felt Firefox has lacked in is sidebar configurability. Other browsers, such as Opera, come with way more sidebar options out-of-the-box making it easy to throw a sidebar onto any side of the browser. The beauty of Firefox, however, is that there are plenty of extensions to solve any complaints.

Customize Cursors with CursorFX

Stardock just released a new cursor management program called CursorFX (previously known as CursorXP). It is designed so that users can install any of the hundreds of cursor themes that have been created. One of my personal favorites is Uista, which is particularly slick on Vista.

Did you know that both Firefox and Opera come with shortcuts to make downloading files a quick and painless process? It's true, but few people know about the shortcuts that can save oodles of time. Lets take a look at how we can trim some time off of downloading files in Firefox and Opera.

CyberNotes: Cookie Editors in Firefox & Opera

Cookies in web browsers are an easy way for sites to store authentication/login information, settings, and so much more. One of the things that some sites do for security or privacy purposes is force the cookies to expire after a period of time. Sometimes they expire after a day, a week, a year, or when you close your browser.

Faster Than Ever Application Launcher

Application launchers are such time savers that we've made it our quest to cover all of the best ones. There's another one that I thought would appeal to many of you because of the small memory footprint (under 4MB) and the extremely simple interface. It's called Faster Than Ever, or FTE for short.

CyberNotes: Custom Deal Finder

There are all kinds of websites available for finding great deals, but a lot of times it takes some extra work to find the items that you're looking for. With the holiday season coming up I'm sure you'll be trying to hunt down all kinds of stuff for friends and family, but you don't have to go out of your way to save some money.

CyberNotes: Customize Windows with Pitaschio

When preparing the Daily Downloads a few weeks back I came across a nifty little program for Windows called Pitaschio (). It caught my attention not only because it was freeware, but also because it didn't require any installation. Those two ingredients are pretty important when it comes to making a good first impression on me.

CyberNotes: The Ultimate Sidebar

I'm always looking for ways to get things done a bit faster, and today we bring you what could very well be the ultimate sidebar. It's actually more like a personalized homepage, a sidebar, and an application launcher all rolled up into one. That sounds pretty interesting, doesn't it?

CyberNotes: Best Firefox Feed Readers

One thing that the Firefox developers have stayed clear of thus far is implementing a full RSS feed reader into the browser. Firefox does have a built in system called Live Bookmarks that are supposed to compensate for needing a feed reader in the browser, but as many of you know it falls short.
