Inbox2 Brings Your Mail and Social Networks Together

Windows only I know a lot of people who stick with their webmail interface because it's simple and does everything they need it to do. The nice thing about Inbox2 is that it may be a desktop mail client, but it tries to aggregate mail from all of your different accounts as well as your social networks.

Forward a Temp Email Address to Your Real Email Address

Last month we wrote about a cool website that would let you generate a temporary email address that gets forwarded to your real email address. After a period of time that you specify that temporary address would expire so that you don't have to worry about getting spammed later on down the road.

Gmail Notifier Pro Does More Than Just Check for New Email

Windows only In the past we've covered some Gmail notifiers, such as Spiffy, but there is always room for some alternative apps. Gmail Notifier Pro is a rather full-featured notifier that goes beyond a simple popup notification.

MailTab Brings Gmail to Your Mac Menu Bar

Mac only I'm an avid Gmail user, and while I love the Sparrow app for Mac I know that some people may be looking for a more traditional Google-style interface. I was browsing around the Mac App Store when I stumbled across a free app called MailTab (Mac App Store link). It's a simple app that supports just one email account, and sits in the menu bar.

EmailTray is a Simple Desktop Mail App and Notifier

Windows only If you've been looking for a light desktop email application I'd give EmailTray a high recommendation. This isn't something that is designed to replace those full-fledged programs such as Outlook or Thunderbird, but when it comes to a simple mail manager and notifier it does quite well. Plus this will monitor multiple webmail accounts, POP or IMAP, for free.

How to do Incremental Gmail Backups

Windows only I rely on my Gmail account for just about all of my email communication, and I'd be pretty sad if I lost some of my emails. After all I have emails dating back to the middle of 2004 in my Gmail account, and so it has almost 7-years worth of my email history.

FollowUpThen Provides On-the-Fly Email Reminders

I always try to be good about adding things to my calendar, but more often than not those times I say "oh, I'll add that to my calendar later" turns into something that never happens. In the end I completely forget what I was supposed to do, and the vicious cycle repeats itself.

Using VBScript to Send Emails with Gmail

I normally don't post scripts and batch files that I use, but I wanted to share this particular script because I use it all the time. VBScript files are nice because typically they are simply coded, and work across virtually all Windows-powered machines. You just have to throw the code in a .VBS file, and from there it can be executed in your batch files very easily.

Google Apps and Gmail Notifier for Multiple Accounts

I've tried all kinds of Gmail notifiers in the past, and many of them leave something to be desired. I have to admit that one of the more recent ones, Spiffy, is on the verge of being awesome. Spiffy is simple, and that is partially because it is available in a portable form. The rest of the simplicity comes from being able to configure up to 5 Gmail accounts in a few minutes.

Push Gmail on the iPhone

I've been waiting a long time for someone to come up with a way to get push notifications on my iPhone for my Gmail accounts, but up until today there wasn't really anything available. Thanks to an iPhone app called Prowl I'm now receiving nearly instantaneous push notifications on my phone.

Trouble Transitioning Into the Digital Age?

Recently I have become more aware of people around me who are struggling to transition into the digital age. For example, I was recently introduced to someone who uses email to communicate, only because they have to for work. If it were up to them, they wouldn't use it at all. What's worse is that this person prints a copy of every single email they receive, not for recording purposes though.

CyberNotes: “Push” Email Using SMS Text Messages

So many people have unlimited SMS text messaging plans on their phones these days that a lot of services, such as Twitter, are using them as a way to notify users of updates. By doing this users get a simulated push notification experience without needing to have a push-compatible device.

Track Gmail Activity And Remotely Sign Out

The Gmail Team over at Google has just added some new security and protection features that will leave some of their users feeling a bit more at ease that their email account is safe. Starting yesterday, Google began rolling out a feature that will allow users to view the time of their last activity on their Gmail account and whether or not it's still open in another location.

Use Yahoo! Mail or Gmail to Email Files & Photos

A few weeks ago I received an email from the developer of a Windows application called gAttach, and it looked pretty cool. At the time, however, the program was new and I wanted to give it some time to mature before I gave it a whirl. Since then it has had a handful of updates, and it is on its way to becoming a handy little program.

Integrated Email Client for Firefox

Having an email client that is built-in to the browser is one of those things that you either love or hate. Both the Opera and SeaMonkey browsers include this functionality out-of-the-box, but if all you're looking for is basic emailing capabilities you may have to look no further than a Firefox extension. The Simple Mail extension brings POP, IMAP, and SMTP support to Firefox.

New Poll: How Many Emails Do You Receive Each Day?

Many of you probably remember the days before email was around, but can you imagine life without it now? We've gotten so used to the instant communication, that it would be difficult to revert back. For many, email is their primary communication method and they receive many emails in a day's time.
