Notepad++ is definitely my favorite Notepad replacement because of the extensive features that it has built-in. A lot of applications are going to tabbed interfaces these days and Notepad++ realized the importance of this early on, which is actually why I started using it in the first place.

Paint.NET is an photo and image editor that is about as feature intensive as you can get while still keeping it a fast (and light) application.

The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) computers fall a little short from being a hardcore gaming machine, so they need to include an efficient Web browser that can handle the job without consuming all of the available resources. Opera is working on a custom version of their browser for the laptop but, as this post states it really isn't anything different other than a custom skin and toolbar.

I don't think that anyone would argue that getting used to Microsoft Office 2007's new interface takes some time. I've been using Beta 2 for what seems like forever (probably about 8 months in reality) and I finally feel comfortable being able to find the commands that used to reside on toolbars and menus in previous versions of Office.

Last week I wrote an article on freeware applications that let you arrange your windows in a more organized, and productive fashion. Then in the comments Everton mentioned an application that he found that lets you minimize windows to the System Tray.

SeaMonkey is Mozilla's browser that is more of an all-in-one type of solution with a built-in email client. I think this overview from Mozilla sums up SeaMonkey quite well for those:

It looks like Google just updated their Feed Reader Module for the Google Personalized Homepage. I'm sure that this is to help compete with Netvibes who offers an amazing built-in feed reader for their customizable homepage. The screenshot above demonstrates how the Feed Reader Module works.

The Windows Vista launch date is about a week away and there is already talk about the first Service Pack (SP1) being made available as soon as this year. According to an email that Bink.nu received this is what the first Service Pack should include:

I normally don't post about WordPress related things but since another milestone release is schedule for Monday I figured I could make an exception.
