P2P File Sharing Actually Helps Sell CDs

Considering the amount of money the music industry pours into trying to stop people from downloading music from file sharing networks, I think it's fair to say that they believe their efforts will help increase the sales of CDs.

Unofficial Rapidshare Search Engine

Rapidshare is very well known for its extensive database of files that are being shared. There are tons of better file sharing services out there than Rapidshare, but I think the only reason it is staying alive is because of the extreme amounts of cracks, warez, movies, and all sorts of other illegal items being hosted on the service.

JAlbum Launches Image Hosting Solutions

JAlbum is a free cross-platform program that I've been using for years, and before I got my Flickr account it was my only way to share digital photos with my family. I had a computer at my house being used to serve up the photos to anyone that requested them, but Flickr was too great of a deal to pass up.

MediaDefender is a popular company who's goal is to thwart illegal file, music, and movie sharing. Their 60 employees and 2,000 servers are used to post fake files (that appear to be real) on the file sharing networks, and they can load corrupt data into the files being downloaded on the Kazaa network.

Napster Failed, Will Limewire’s Store Fail Too?

Remember the days of Napster when 70 million users traded music, and life was good? Then the RIAA stepped in and sued Napster for copyright infringement and the happy days of sharing music for free were over. Napster then introduced Napster 2.0 which required users to pay a fee for the once free music which didn’t prove to be successful.

Vista SP1 Screenshots and Features

Windows Vista SP1 was known to be in the hands of testers just a few weeks ago, and much like XP SP3 it has been leaked in full form on the file sharing networks. Microsoft was actually pretty smart by making the general public cringe at the idea of installing a leaked copy of Vista SP1. Why? They only offered it to testers as a full 3.1GB Vista installation instead of as a standalone update.

Leaked: Download Windows XP SP3 3180 Torrent

Ahhh, Microsoft definitely has a hard time these days keep downloads behind closed doors. We just announced yesterday that XP SP3 was in the hands of select testers, and now 24-hours later it can be found on the file sharing networks. The information appears to match up to the real thing, but you should be careful because this hasn’t officially been released by Microsoft.
