CyberNotes: Safari 3 Style Inline Search in Firefox

One of the things that I've always enjoyed in Safari 3 is the inline search interface, and just the other day I thought I would peruse around the Internet trying to find a way to do the same thing in Firefox. Why is searching special in Safari? Because it dims the background of the page that you're on, and highlights the matching results as you type.

Run Downloads in Firefox Instead of Saving Them

One of the things that has always bugged me about Firefox is that when you go to download a file it will only let you save it to your computer. Some other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, also give you an option to "run" the file.

Firefox Live Bookmarks in the Sidebar

From our 7,000+ feed subscribers I'm surprised to see that over 600 of those readers are still using the rather simple Firefox Live Bookmarks to keep up on the news. I've always found the Live Bookmarks system to be overly simple since the only part of the feed that is made available is the title of the article. Portable Firefox 3 Beta 1

I can't even count the number of requests I've had to create a Portable Firefox 3 from the latest Beta version that was released. There has been at least a few dozen requests, and I try to do my best explaining how users can create their own version of Portable Firefox.

You know, like in the example above where there is an address which has been placed on two different lines, but if you paste that into the Google Maps search field it will cutoff anything on the second line.

CyberNotes: Cookie Editors in Firefox & Opera

Cookies in web browsers are an easy way for sites to store authentication/login information, settings, and so much more. One of the things that some sites do for security or privacy purposes is force the cookies to expire after a period of time. Sometimes they expire after a day, a week, a year, or when you close your browser.

CyberNotes: Recover Lost Bookmarks in Firefox

Has something ever happened to your Firefox bookmarks, and you were left wondering how you could get back the bookmarks that you lost? Some of you may be using a service such as Foxmarks (review) so that all of your bookmarks are also backed-up online, but often any change you make to your bookmarks will also be reflected in the service you're synchronizing with.
