Monitor and Quit Adobe Flash on Mac

Mac only A lot of people have heard about the negative impact using Adobe Flash can have on your notebook computer, such as the MacBook Air. Apple even went as far as not including Flash when shipping new MacBook Air computers, and it's likely because of the battery implications it can have.

Convert PDF to a Flash Page with a Realistic Page Turning Effect

Ever want to post a PDF document online for people to read without making someone download it first? There are some excellent zero-effort sites for doing just that, such as Scribd, but not everyone likes to use third-party services for that kind of stuff.

Solipskier Brings Skiing to Your Browser, iPhone, and iPad

We don't write about iPhone games on the site too often, but this one hits a bit closer to home than most others in the App Store. This one was put together by a very talented group of game developers I know, and they've come up with something that's both fun and addicting.

Google and Yahoo to Index Flash Content

One of the problems with using Flash on a website is that search engines like Google and Yahoo are unable to read the content of the files encoded in the Flash file format. This can keep people from using Flash on their sites for obvious reasons.

Flash-Based Tower-Bloxx = Fun!

Not that I need any excuse to waste time, but I always keep an eye out for the "Time Wasters" that Download Squad writes about. They're usually pretty fun, and one in particular I recently got hooked on.  It's called Tower Bloxx, and the flash-based game is about how well you can stack swinging building blocks. It sounds easy, but it can get tricky pretty fast.

Adobe Flash Player Now With H.264 (HD quality)

Just the other day Adobe released Flash Player 9.0.115.0, and the most notable feature is the new H.264 (HD quality) video support. That is pretty big news because H.264 offers better video quality at lower bitrates, which inevitably makes for a better viewing experience. As Wikipedia points out there are numerous benefits to using H.264 for sharing videos.

Adobe Enters World of Online Word Processing

The list of companies offering an online word processor just keeps getting longer and longer. And because there are so many options, it makes it difficult to determine which service to use, if any at all. As though there weren't enough options, Adobe has announced that they are acquiring Virtual Ubiquity which is the company that makes Buzzword.

Microsoft’s Mobile Mouse & Flash Drive Combo

Microsoft just introduced a new mouse "with a mind of its own" -the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000. What's unique about it is that the transceiver which you'd normally have to plug in via USB anyways to use the mouse includes 1GB of Flash Memory. It's not going to be on the shelves until about October, and the price is set at $99.

New Image Scaling Working Demo

Last week we wrote about a break-through image scaling technology that took into account the content of the photo. The video demonstration that they provided was, in my opinion, nothing short of astonishing. Now one-week later we have a scaled down (no pun intended) Flash version created by a third-party.

A Look at the New Zune 2 and Zune Flash

Gizmodo is claiming that the photos pictured below are the first shots of the New Zune. The images came from “a source who cites marketing materials, likely from the retail channel, but were confirmed by a second source as well.” Of course just because they were confirmed by a second source doesn’t mean that they’re legit.
