If you like full-screen photo browsing, you’ll love PicLens! PicLens has been around for several months for Mac users, and just a couple of weeks ago they released a version for Firefox users. Made by the Cooliris team (our review here), PicLens enables you to view photos in full-screen mode with just one click.

Everybody seems to have gotten in on digital photography these days.  Even more than taking the photos, people seem to have gotten into sharing those photos with others via social networks and photo sharing sites.

Last week I mentioned that Yahoo Photos is closing, and that there are several alternatives for replacement services. If you choose one of Yahoo’s selected services, it’s a one-click migration process. There are five different services available as alternatives, and some of them are offering incentives if you select them.

Back in the beginning of May, Yahoo announced that they would be closing down Yahoo Photos, a process that would occur over several months. Those who have photos stored on Yahoo have been given a few different options as a replacement service, and yesterday marked the day that Yahoo made the tools available so that users can begin the process.

There are all kinds of tools available for managing your Flickr photos, many of which will even upload them for you. The problem is that most of the tools available aren’t even close to being a comprehensive photo editing application. You can’t do things like edit a photo before you upload it to Flickr, well, you could but that would require another program.

The other night I was in the middle of doing some work on my Flickr account when all of a sudden it went down for maintenance. I knew it was going to happen because they notified users in advance, but I had just forgotten.

When Flickr meets Google maps, what do you get? A really cool mashup that shows you in real-time, geo-located Flickr photos. Flickrvision was just released yesterday and it’s created by the same person who made Twittervision, if you’re familiar with that.

Flickr has redesigned their slideshow photo feature at the request of their users, and now you can view all of your favorite photos in a larger size versus the reduced size that they previously offered.

If you have a Flickr account set up, or maybe there’s an account owned by someone else that’s filled with pictures that you enjoy, you can put those photos to good use.A program called Flickr Desktop Wallpaper will select images randomly from a Flickr account of your choice and turn them into a pattern of tiled images.

Today begins the day that Yahoo will be closing down Yahoo Photos, a process that will occur over several months.  When Yahoo photos originally started, Flickr hadn’t yet been acquired.  It seems like at this point, there really isn’t a need for Yahoo to maintain two photo services.

We’ve covered online photo editing options before like Fauxto (the online Photoshop clone), Phixr, and Snipshot. While all of them proved easy and convenient to use, another service called Picnik just became number one on my list.

I signed up for a Flickr Pro account the day that they announced the new Collections feature. I keep all of my photos organized in a nice hierarchical structure that is difficult or impossible to replicate using only tags. Once Flickr implemented the feature, I knew that it was exactly what I was waiting for.

Gallery 2.2 is now available to the public and it offers some new features that are sure to be a crowd pleaser. The software is used to host your own photo galleries on your own site instead of using a service like Flickr.

At the end of January Flickr sent out emails to all of their users saying that they had until March 15th, 2007 to setup a Yahoo! account that would be used to manage the Flickr service. This caused quite an uproar in the blog community as well as all over the web.

The default wallpapers that come with Window’s Vista are without a doubt some of the best that have ever been offered with an operating system. And what’s more amazing is that a portion of them came from amateur photographers.

It was just the beginning of January that Yahoo acquired MyBlogLog for an estimated 10-12 million. We were wondering how long it would take Yahoo to  integrate some of their other acquired services like Flickr. Well, that question has been answered because Flickr has been integrated into MyBlogLog.
