I constantly find myself using Microsoft's Remote Desktop tool to connect to machines both within my house and at work. Managing a large number of machines can be a rather daunting chore, and we've covered some tools in the past that try to provide an interface for managing multiple Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections. I have to say that Remote Desktop Manager is among the best.

Areca Backup is one of the few backup utilities that I've seen that runs on both Windows and Linux operating systems. Like most backup utilities you can choose what files you want to backup and where you want to send them to, which includes backing up the files to an FTP/SFTP server. You can also have the the backup zipped to help save some space.
Several years ago we wrote an article covering some different ways you can assign a drive letter to an FTP site, and now that some time has passed I decided to check been in on a few of the apps that we've mentioned.
When it comes down to free FTP clients for Windows there are only a handful of them I ever hear people talk about. Normally they consist of apps like FileZilla or WinSCP, and some people just stick to the standard Windows Explorer if they are only connecting to FTP sites. I came across a different app the other day that I'd definitely put on par with apps like FileZilla. That app is FTP Rush.
I'm always on the look out for awesome text and code editors, but the percentage that turn out to be good versus the number I actually test is fairly low. RJ TextEd ranks pretty high in that list though. It's free, portable, and has a very extensive list of features.
