One of my favorite features in Google Calendar is the "quick add" capability which lets you create new events using a more natural language rather than filling out a form.

At work I use Outlook to manage my email and calendar, but I was looking for a way to sync my calendar with Google. It wasn't that long ago that Google decided to release an Outlook syncing tool so that you're able to do exactly what I wanted. Well, almost what I wanted.
There were quite a few of you who were fond of the dark Gmail theme that we wrote about a few months ago, and since then it has received some significant updates to make it even better. Now there is a very similar theme that is designed for Google Calendar, and it's created by the same people who made the Gmail version.
Google has just taken a big step in making the lives of both Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook Calendar users easier. For someone who used both, maybe one for work and the other for home, keeping the calendars up to date and in sync with each other was no easy process until now.
One area that I always keep open in my browser is the sidebar. It's where I scour through hundreds of bookmarks, but it's also handy for viewing mobile websites. Mitch over at Firefox Facts brought his "A" game when he snagged some specialized Google Calendar code from his iGoogle gadget. Your browser's sidebar is a great home for the stripped-down website.
Here I thought Google was only in love with the iPhone but it turns out that they have a little love left for BlackBerry's too! Proof of that is they recently launched Google Sync which will allow BlackBerry users to synchronize their BlackBerry calendar with their Google calendar.
Once again, it appears that Microsoft is trying to compete with Google. This time it's with their new Live Calendar which has several similarities to Google's Calendar service. Microsoft hasn't made an official announcement about it, but many people are reporting that they already have it. If you do, you'll notice the beta tag next to it as shown to the right.

The eagle-eyed Google Blogoscoped forum noticed that Google Gears has started prompting some users to enable offline support. Tony Ruscoe looked through some of the JavaScript code on the page, and managed to scrounge up two different lines that provide definite clues that Google Gears support for Google Calendar is coming soon.
Many Google Docs users have been saying for quite a while that it would be so useful to have Docs and Spreadsheets in a mobile version.
I’ve been addicted to sidebars ever since I bought my first widescreen monitor. Sidebars have the ability to provide a lot of information inside a very small space, and it wasn’t until recently that I fully started to utilize them.
Launchy is becoming a well-known application among PC power users. When the latest version launched back in April it included a plugin called Runny which added a whole new aspect to the application. I love that plugin because you can create customized commands for Launchy, such as one for composing an email.

Google has just added another element of customization to Google Calendars with their directory for public calendars with calendars that can be integrated into your own personal calendar. The directory includes a variety of different calendars divided into categories, so searching and browsing is easy. Categories include:
Google Calendar fans have yet another way to put their calendar to good use! Now the calendar is available for mobile devices so that you’re able to keep track of your schedule from both the computer and your phone. For those who have multiple calendars, you’re even able to select which calendar that you want to view.
If you’re a user of Google Calendar, now you’re able to create multiple reminders for your event. This is a feature that’s been requested by many users who aren’t always at their computer for that email reminder when they need it.
I have seen several sites reporting that the Google Calendar is going to be down nearly all day tomorrow. This is actually a misconception that came from an email Google sent out to Google Apps subscribers:
While Google Calendar is a great way to keep organized, people have found another use for it. Using Google Calendar and the new “Search Public Events” feature, people are able to scoop up “private” corporate data that’s probably meant to be private, but is set for the public to view.

I was just going over a post made by Mozilla’s Calendar team that listed a bunch of bugs that have been fixed since the last release.
