Sync Microsoft Office Documents with Google Docs

For those of you who use both Microsoft Office and Google Docs, you're going to love a fairly new web app called DocSyncer. DocSyncer makes it possible to synchronize your Microsoft Office documents with your Google Docs account.  It's pretty genius, isn't it? I'm actually surprised Google hasn't thought to try to implement something like this on their own.

Adobe Enters World of Online Word Processing

The list of companies offering an online word processor just keeps getting longer and longer. And because there are so many options, it makes it difficult to determine which service to use, if any at all. As though there weren't enough options, Adobe has announced that they are acquiring Virtual Ubiquity which is the company that makes Buzzword.

Google Presentations Misses the Mark

I've been excited for quite some time to see what Google would be able to pull out of their Online Presentation service, but I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed with the final result. For starters, one of the great things that they did is shorten the name of their "Office Suite" to just Google Docs (prior to this it was Google Docs & Spreadsheets), but the service is still in Beta.

Why Google Apps Falls Short

Most of us know that Google Docs and Spreadsheets which comes with Google Apps, while it has its perks, is really no comparison to the functionality offered with Microsoft’s Office.  A recent report talks about this and the fact that “Google Apps is useful in a limited set of circumstances” which could ultimately lead to disappointment among enterprises and large companies.

Earlier today Zoho launched a few new features. The first, and most notable item is support for Google Gears. You may remember the open source Google Gears project from when we discussed it back in May, which is when Google launched it with support for Google Reader. One-week later Remember the Milk launched their own offline support using Google Gears.

Google Introduces Shared Storage

Google has always offered the option to purchase additional storage for your Picasa account, however, now that purchased storage is for more than just your Picasa account.  Google has started a new shared storage program in which your paid storage can be used across other Google services.  For now, the only two options are Gmail and Picasa, but I’m sure Google intends to add additional services to the list like Google Docs & Spreadsheets.
