Google announced today that they will be stopping development on several different services. Among those being given the ax are Google Notebook, Google Video, Google Catalog Search, Dodgeball, Jaiku, and Google Mashup Editor.
Google Notebook is, in my opinion, one of the best tools for saving content from websites. It just got a lot better, too, with some of the most requested features getting implemented. The most notable addition is support for labels, which in Google terminology means tags. Just like in Gmail you can label each of your notes, and then you can view notes according to the labels.
If you visit Google today, you'll notice the usual logo has been replaced with the one you see pictured to the right. It's Google's 9th Birthday, and they're celebrating! While there are actually several dates that could be considered Google's birthday, clearly they acknowledge today, September 27th as their official birthday, the day that they became incorporated and their name was officially Google inc.

About two-weeks ago a simple site called Jjot launched as an easy way for you to aggregate all of your notes into one simple location. It’s a fast, lightweight, and simple service that doesn’t cost a dime. It’s not packed with a lot of features like the Google Notebook, but did I say it is fast?
A few weeks ago we mentioned a new JavaScript version of the Google Notebook that was popping up on search results pages. We guessed that the next thing someone would put together for this would be a bookmarklet…and we were kinda close.
There are a variety of different Firefox Extensions that expand your bookmarking capability. Sure you could just use the built-in bookmarking feature, but there are extensions that are more useful, and add more functionality. One of those is an extension called Dog Ears.
