Greasemonkey for Firefox 3

Greasemonkey is one of the extensions that I know many of you are waiting to get upgraded before making the jump to Firefox 3. If that's the only extension you're holding out for then I've got good news for you... there's a pre-release version of Greasemonkey that was assembled a few weeks ago (May 19, 2008), and it's completely compatible with Firefox 3.

Watch High-Resolution YouTube Videos

The words YouTube and "high-resolution" have never really fit well in the same sentence. YouTube has always greatly limited the resolution of their videos to conserve on bandwidth, but going forward that may not always be the case. As it turns out there is a little something that you can add on to the end of a YouTube URL to have it play a high-resolution version of the same video.

CyberNotes: Gmail 2 Greasemonkey Scripts

Gmail 2 has introduced some exciting new features to users including AIM messenger support, color coded labels, and several backend improvements. All of these changes have helped remove the need for some Greasemonkey scripts, but such drastic alterations have caused a lot of broken scripts.

HTML Signatures for Gmail 2

We just wrote about how Gmail 2 breaks a lot of the Greasemonkey scripts that are available, and Gina from Lifehacker turned right around and released Better Gmail 2. As expected this version only has a fraction of scripts that the original extension had, and it still lacks some of my favorites: Google Calendar integration, Google Reader integration, and Folders4Gmail.

Gmail Greasemonkey API

Just yesterday my Gmail account was upgraded to the new Gmail 2.0, and I can say first hand that there are definitely some speed improvements. Opening up emails only takes a split second, and the new contact manager is uber sweet. The coolest thing, however, is the new ability to bookmark emails, labels, and locations. For example, bookmarking:

Cookies in Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail Pose Security Threat

Cookies are used in your web browser to store information, but have you ever thought about how easy it would be for a hacker to quickly gain access to them? It is actually frighteningly easy as Robert Graham, the CEO of errata security, demonstrated at the Black Hat security convention.

Nested Labels in Gmail (Sub-Labels or Folders)

One feature that I’ve always wanted in Gmail was the ability to organize my labels in a folder-like structure. By that I mean that I want to nest the labels one inside of another so that my list isn’t quite so long. This kind of structure is probably referred to the most as sub-labels.

Running Greasemonkey Scripts in Internet Explorer

Both Opera and Firefox are blessed with methods of running scripts that modify the way sites are not only displayed, but the way they function. We’ve seen scripts that will stream Google search results so that you never have to click the “Next” link, and we’ve also seen ones that will make everyday tasks a little easier.

Getting More Out of Gmail with this Firefox Extension

Lifehacker just got done putting together a great guide on supercharging your Gmail account. They mostly cover things like Greasemonkey scripts that you can use, but throw in a few other things, too. They also mention a Firefox extension they created that incorporates almost all of the scripts so that you don’t have to worry about having Greasemonkey installed.

How to Insert HTML Signatures in Gmail

Gmail has always been my choice of online email clients, but one thing that is frustrating is that HTML signatures aren't supported within the composition area. Well, Gmail can actually handle them there is just no easy way to have the signature automatically inserted with each message...until now.
