When Halo 3 broke the record in the video game industry by selling over 1 million pre-orders, we knew September was going to be a huge month for Microsoft.
Bungie Studios is best known for creating the Halo series for Xbox which has turned into one of the best-selling games of all time. After all, Halo 3 managed to bring in $170 Million in the first 24 hours of sales! Halo hasn't been the only thing to come out of Bungie though.
The first 24 hours of Halo 3's release was HUGE for Microsoft as Xbox 360 users forked out a total of $170 million for the game. Remember, that was only the first 24 hours! That $170 million was enough to make the launch of Halo 3 the biggest in entertainment history - bigger than any Hollywood movie.
Not that this should be a surprise, but the ending of Halo 3 has been leaked to the Internet. With the game set to launch in just a week on September 25th, the video of the ending appears to be legitimate - although it hasn't been confirmed. Halo 3 is done! The developers of the game, Bungie, announced yesterday that “Halo’s Gone Gold.” That means that the final version of Halo 3 is done, and now it’s being “whisked away to top-secret manufacturing locations to be turned into retail version of the game – and eventually packaged and sent to stores in various cases, tins and cat-helmets. We can’t wait to share it with you guys on September 25th and 26th.”
There are a few sites around the web reporting that Best Buy is charging a “Halo Tax” by adding $3 to the price of most Xbox 360 accessories that you can buy.
Come August 8th the Xbox 360 might be seeing a $50 price cut! Both Hollywood Reporter and Xbox Scene are reporting the news, although Xbox Scene wasn’t given the details on the amount of the price drop.

Last week I went around the Internet to different retailers looking for a release date for Halo 3. I was just curious what dates were out there, and if any of them were the same in hopes of getting some indication when to expect the launch. Out of 8 different stores that I checked, there were four different dates.
Halo 3 is set to be released this Fall, but no official date has been announced yet. I decided to look around to see what the estimated release date was going to be, but to my surprise, nearly every place I went gave a different date.
