Like many of you, I use bookmarklets on a daily basis to complete tasks a bit faster. Many of them offer features that normally require Firefox extensions to do, and I am one of those people that try to minimize the number of extensions I use.

Cookies in Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail Pose Security Threat

Cookies are used in your web browser to store information, but have you ever thought about how easy it would be for a hacker to quickly gain access to them? It is actually frighteningly easy as Robert Graham, the CEO of errata security, demonstrated at the Black Hat security convention.

Navigating Gigapixel Panoramas with Microsoft HD View

We’ve seen several high-quality images in the past that have been assembled together to form one large image. The latest breakthrough was the 1-trillion pixel image that required a special file format to manage the 143GB file. Other popular ones include Chicago By Night at 1-gigapixel and Machu Picchu at 1.5-gigapixels.

Tweak Vista with Another Freeware App

We’ve covered several utilities in the past that can be used to tweak Vista: TweakVista, TweakUAC, and Vispa. All of those provide some nice functionalities when it comes to tweaking Vista, and there is a new one that was just released called VistaTweaker (Download Mirror).

Free Secunia PSI: Monitor for Software Updates

We’ve talked about Secunia’s online software inspector before. It doesn’t require that you download any application, and it operates completely through your browser. The purpose of using it is to find out-dated software on your computer.

Maxthon 2 Released as they near 100 Million Downloads

The IE-based Maxthon browser released a much anticipated version 2 today. This comes just 3-months after Google invested an astounding $1 million into the browser, and that raised a lot of eyebrows because of the close relationship Google has with Firefox.

Nested Labels in Gmail (Sub-Labels or Folders)

One feature that I’ve always wanted in Gmail was the ability to organize my labels in a folder-like structure. By that I mean that I want to nest the labels one inside of another so that my list isn’t quite so long. This kind of structure is probably referred to the most as sub-labels.

IE7Pro Bringing Speed Dial to Internet Explorer

I think the Opera development team should be proud of their Speed Dial idea because it is now available for most major browsers, and even as a standalone website. Firefox was the second browser to get it via an extension, and now with the Beta version of IE7Pro you can get it in Internet Explorer 7!

Firefox 2.0.0.5 Release Fixes the Big IE/Firefox Flaw

Mozilla released an important update to the Firefox web browser today. The new Firefox 2.0.0.5 fixes a critical flaw that enables a hacker to control a user’s computer. Ironically, this was done by letting the hacker launch Firefox through Internet Explorer, and then Firefox would run malicious instructions that could compromise their system.

CyberNotes: Interclue Puts the Information at your Fingertips

I came across an extension the other day that I think is going to become very popular, extremely fast. It’s called Interclue and it is a cross between Snap Shots, Cooliris, Link Alert, and iReader...and it may very well be one of the best Firefox add-ons that I have seen.

IE7Pro: Inline Spell Checking and Statusbar Weather

IE7Pro is the single biggest browser add-on that I’ve ever seen. We’ve previously outlined some of the features that it enhances Internet Explorer 7 with, but we thought that it was time to take another look at it. Heck, in the last 5-months it has received 7 updates, and almost every update adds at least one new feature.

CyberNotes: Enhancing IE7′s Feed Reader

One thing that Microsoft did a good job of in Internet Explorer 7 was making it easy for users to read feeds. They provided a feed reader that was so simple, yet it does exactly what most casual users want, and that is to keep up on the latest news from around the Web.

I’m sure many of you look kindly upon the fact that your web browser stores your passwords for you. It is no doubt a wonderful time-saving feature, and surely beats having to retype your password every time that it needs to be entered.

Running Greasemonkey Scripts in Internet Explorer

Both Opera and Firefox are blessed with methods of running scripts that modify the way sites are not only displayed, but the way they function. We’ve seen scripts that will stream Google search results so that you never have to click the “Next” link, and we’ve also seen ones that will make everyday tasks a little easier.
