I learned a new term over the weekend, and it’s called Bacn! What is Bacn? No, it’s not the delectable bacon that you eat for breakfast, instead it’s the new term for emails that are a cross between spam and personal mail. Here’s a message regarding Bacn from the people who coined the new word:

Just last week we wrote about a service Yahoo! provides that lets you bring your existing emails, contacts, and calendar from your existing email account. Yahoo has announced the launch of an “all-new Yahoo! Mail” that has quite the list of new features including chat capabilities right inside Yahoo Mail, and the option to send and/or receive text messages. Many of you have been trying out some of the new features since the public beta launched back in September of 2006.

If you’ve been looking to make the switch to Yahoo! Mail then I’ve got the tool you need. Yahoo! has a partnership with a company called TrueSwitch which is used to transfer emails, calendar info, and contacts from one account to another.

Launchy is becoming a well-known application among PC power users. When the latest version launched back in April it included a plugin called Runny which added a whole new aspect to the application. I love that plugin because you can create customized commands for Launchy, such as one for composing an email.

Microsoft is taking a new approach to Microsoft Works 9 by offering it for free (was $49.95), but with advertisements. The suite of applications that come with the Works are an address book, calendar, database (like Excel), dictionary, PowerPoint Viewer, Word (basic functionality), and templates. Doesn’t sound too bad, huh?
