Mozilla Ditching Thunderbird?

Mitchell Baker, Mozilla’s CEO, announced on her blog today that Thunderbird hasn’t been receiving the attention that it deserves. As a result they are looking at a number of options to let Thunderbird continue to grow and flourish, but I don’t like how all of this sounds. Take a look at this snippet from the post:

One of the things I use the most in Gmail is the "View as HTML" feature for previewing documents, presentations, and spreadsheets that are attached to an email. This lets you scope out what a document is about without having to download it to your computer.

Nested Labels in Gmail (Sub-Labels or Folders)

One feature that I’ve always wanted in Gmail was the ability to organize my labels in a folder-like structure. By that I mean that I want to nest the labels one inside of another so that my list isn’t quite so long. This kind of structure is probably referred to the most as sub-labels.

Coming Soon: Unlimited Storage with AOL Mail

Soon AOL will be joining Yahoo on the list of web-based mail services that offer unlimited storage. Webware is reporting that in the coming weeks, we can expect both the unlimited storage as well as integrated chatting. The integrated chatting would make it easier for those who use AIM to chat with their contacts right from their mail, much like the integrated chat in Gmail.

One month after announcing their “to infinity and beyond” unlimited email storage, Yahoo has finally started rolling it out to their users. The entire process of enabling all users with the unlimited storage will take a few months, and they do this to make sure that it’s a smooth process.

Microsoft Rebranding Complete for Windows Live Hotmail

What was originally meant to Hotmail, Microsoft has completed the re-branding for their new mail service(in beta) and now it’s officially Windows Live Hotmail. In February they made the announcement that they were going to bring together the best of both worlds, Windows Live Mail and Hotmail, and create a new name that would satisfy both old loyal users, and new users.

Yahoo Mail Opens up API to Users!

This is definitely Yahoo Mail’s week to shine.  First they decided to offer their customers “unlimited” mail storage earlier this week, and now they’ve announced that they’re opening up their API for users to tinker around with.
