Mozilla Will Support Firefox 2 Until Mid-December 2008

After yesterday's article about Mozilla rolling out Firefox 3 update notifications it's clear that there are still some of you who don't intend on making the leap to Firefox 3 just yet. Maybe you're still waiting for extensions to get updated, have problems running Firefox 3 on your computer, or just don't want the new features it offers.

Mozilla Rallies the Troops for Firefox 3

Since the release of Firefox 3 is right around the corner it comes as no surprise that Mozilla is trying to rally the troops community. Back in 2006 they celebrated World Firefox Day by getting people to invite their friends to try Firefox, and right about the time Firefox 2 launched Mozilla gave the much deserved acknowledgements.

Mozilla Employees Get Interviewed

I always find it interesting to read and watch interviews with leaders of various companies, particularly when they give their take on their own products. Just last week a "Support Firefox Day" session was held over the IRC chat service, and in it they had four of the best known Mozilla employees answer questions that you may find interesting.

Firefox 3 Nearing Completion

Development on the Firefox 3 browser is finally starting to wrap up. It's been a year and a half since Firefox 2 was released to the public, and by the end of May Firefox 3 will have entered the Release Candidate stages. This is all preparation for what looks to be a June 2008 launch of the long awaited Firefox 3 browser.

April Browser Stats were Incorrect

Last week we took a look at where the various browsers stood up against each other in terms of market share. I was shocked (to say the least) when Internet Explorer triumphantly came out on top with a 1.22% market share increase. That really hit hard for Firefox who's market share was sent spiraling down to 16.96%, which was nearly a percent lower than the previous month.

Big Oops: Mozilla Releases Compromised Vietnamese Language Pack

I think it's safe to say that a lot of Firefox users associate the browser with security. It may normally keep you out of harms way, but that's not the case if you downloaded the Vietnamese language pack after February 18, 2008.

AT&T’s Pogo Browser…. why?

Imagine sitting at a large round table over at AT&T trying to come up with ways to better your brand and service. Everyone is expressing their minds, and one individual says "" There's a slight chuckle in the room, and then everyone begins looking at each other with a slightly puzzled look on their faces. Finally, someone says ""

CyberNotes: Top 5 Firefox Extensions for Searching

Firefox has obviously gained a lot of popularity because of what an extensible browser it has become. Our article last week about getting Safari-styled inline searching is a prime example of that. You can customize nearly any aspect of it thanks to thousands of extensions and scripts that have been created by developers, and one of our goals is to point you towards the best ones.

Mozilla’s Take on Acid3 Test

For about a month now browser developers have been eyeing the new Acid3 test to see how they can push to meet the standards it tests for. Shortly after the test was released we took a look at how the browsers stacked up to each other, but none of them passed the test. Then just last week both Opera and Safari released test builds that demonstrate their compliance.

New Firefox Add-ons Site Launches

Mozilla has just launched their new Firefox Add-ons site that shows off a sparkling and freshly revamped interface. Back in February we took a glimpse at what a preview of the new add-ons site had to offer, and overall I would say that it is a really nice improvement over the prior version.

Mobile Firefox Mockups

We've known for a little while that Mozilla had plans to design a mobile browser, and now we are getting some insight as to where they are headed with it. As it turns out they are actually designing two different mobile versions, one for touch screen devices (iPhone-style) and another for smaller screens (like cellphones).

Mozilla Yanks Website & Appoints New CEO

Mozilla's current CEO, Mitchell Baker, announced on her blog that she will be stepping down. Moving up the ladder is John Lilly, the former Chief Operating Office (COO), who will be fulfilling the duties previously assigned to Baker. From what it sounds like, however, Baker will remain as an active leader in the organization:
