Mozilla has just launched their new Firefox Add-ons site that shows off a sparkling and freshly revamped interface. Back in February we took a glimpse at what a preview of the new add-ons site had to offer, and overall I would say that it is a really nice improvement over the prior version.

Back in September 2007 Mozilla decided to break their email client, called Thunderbird, away from the browser and create a separate subsidiary for it. Up until now the new subsidiary has been called MailCo, but today it officially received the name of Mozilla Messaging.

We've known for a little while that Mozilla had plans to design a mobile browser, and now we are getting some insight as to where they are headed with it. As it turns out they are actually designing two different mobile versions, one for touch screen devices (iPhone-style) and another for smaller screens (like cellphones).

Mozilla Yanks Website & Appoints New CEO

Mozilla's current CEO, Mitchell Baker, announced on her blog that she will be stepping down. Moving up the ladder is John Lilly, the former Chief Operating Office (COO), who will be fulfilling the duties previously assigned to Baker. From what it sounds like, however, Baker will remain as an active leader in the organization:

Spicebird: Email, Calendar, IM, RSS, and More

There's a new app on the block, and it looks as though it may have a very promising future. The open source Spicebird project has its first Alpha release coming up soon, and to tease us they've posted a video of what to expect. Firefox 2.0.0.11: Two Releases in One Week?

Mozilla pushed out Firefox 2.0.0.10 on Tuesday which fixed three highly rated security vulnerabilities, but a rather critical bug slipped through their test routines. The issue lies in the which is used by some extensions and websites to display images. An example of this can be seen here where a line graph is supposed to appear on the left side using the source image as the background.

Sunbird 0.7 is Impressive

For some reason I'm really impressed at how fast Mozilla's Calendar duo is progressing. They just pushed Lightning & Sunbird 0.7 out the door, and they include a completely redesigned event interface along with hundreds of bug fixes. You can see what the new event manager looks like above, and it is much less cluttered than the older version.
