A word of caution for those hunting for a job: make sure that your online profile is “clean” because employers are using information that they find online to help them determine who they should hire.
I always love the “Best Website” lists because there’s usually a handful of sites that I haven’t heard of, or paid much attention to. Time magazine has put together their list of the 50 Best Websites of 2007. They explain it as their picks of “what’s new and exciting about the Web right now.”
MySpace TV has launched. Go take a look for yourself and the first thing you’ll probably notice is that it has a very familiar resemblance of YouTube. Yep, MySpaceTV blatantly copied YouTube in more ways than one. While it makes sense for MySpace to take a video-sharing route, they could’ve at least put some effort into making the site their own.
Rumors are running rampant that Yahoo is considering acquiring MySpace. This isn’t just some random rumor either – The New York Times is reporting that News Corp. and Yahoo have discussed the idea. It’s a pretty “loose proposal” as the New York Times says, but the idea has been thrown out there.
MySpace is all about customization and allowing users to create personalized profiles. However, up until this point, users generally had to turn to outside sources to add that element of customization to their profiles. There are hundreds of third party sources that offer pre-designed themes and backgrounds for MySpace pages for free.
MySpace has taken a big step today on trying to filter out copyrighted content in the form of both audio and video. The campaign they launched is called and aims to prevent the reposting of copyrighted content once it has already been removed.
It takes some effort to keep up with Photobucket and MySpace. Back in the beginning of April, Photobucket and MySpace were feuding for a second time (first time in 2007) after MySpace blocked Photobucket videos and video remixes from displaying on MySpace profiles. Two weeks after that, they were friends again, and now the latest news is that MySpace has decided to acquire Photobucket.

MySpace is going from social network to social news today as they add on the addition of “MySpace News.” They’re expecting that their 100+ million users will make it the next social news success story as users will be voting on their favorite news items.
