The Wii-mote More Than 10-Years In The Making?

I was flipping through some of the Digg upcoming stories when I saw one that referenced a patent for the Wii-mote (Nintendo Wii controller) that was filed back in 1993. Of course it still has to be big enough to fit the oversized NES cartridges (you may even have to blow into them-- they are getting old!). It requires 4 AA's that are said to last a while, and also includes a head phone jack.
