Google an Advocate for Video Piracy?

Okay, so maybe Google isn’t exactly an advocate for video piracy, but they don’t seem to be taking the drastic measures needed to keep copyrighted videos off of their service. The National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) posted an article criticizing Google’s effort (or lack thereof) for stopping copyrighted videos from appearing on the Google Video site. They pointed out that:

MPAA’s New Target: Peekvid and YouTVPC

The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) is having a field-day with this one! They’re after Peekvid and YouTVPC, looking to shut down both sites for streaming copyrighted material for free.  Both sites have become pretty popular recently (53,000 unique visitors per day for Peekvid), which helps to explain why the MPAA is going after them.

Peekvid Gets Revamped With Web 2.0 Style

We discovered Peekvid towards the end of January, and found it as a pretty useful source for finding some of your favorite movies.  They aggregate videos from YouTube and DailyMotion, and make an organized list of links so that it's easy to find what you're looking for.
