It's hard to believe, but this November the Xbox 360 will turn 4-years old, and the Wii and PS3 will turn 3-years old. These consoles mark what's considered to be the seventh generation of video game consoles, and generally consoles are revamped every 4-7 years.

At the time, we knew that it was going to be a free download, users would be able to purchase accessories, but most importantly, it was expected to be available around the globe by the Fall of 2007.

Just two weeks ago, Blockbuster decided to lend support to Blu-ray because next month when Blockbuster increases their selection of high definition DVD’s,  Blu-ray was chosen as the format.  This was viewed as another victory for Blu-Ray, and another slap in the face for HD DVD.

Sony’s New Sales Method: Bribery

The next time you go into a Gamestop store, you may get a little extra pressure to purchase a PlayStation 3.  Gamer’s Reports is reporting that their source at Gamestop says that Sony is running a contest for Gamestop managers. In other words, they’re bribing managers to step-up their game and sell more PS3’s.

Nintendo’s Wii is King of the Hill for February Sales

February sales numbers are in, and according to NPD, a Market Research Firm, the Wii out-sold any other game console. And so far, they’re right on track to out-ship and out-sell both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 in 2007 as the International Data Corporation originally predicted.

Sony has responded to complaints that they’re lacking in the online support area by introducing Playstation Home. The virtual world which reminds me a lot of Second Life will allow users to have virtual avatars, virtual homes, and live together in different environments, both private and public.

According to DigiTimes, none of the latest game consoles including the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, or PS3 will stand King of the Hill over the market like the PS2 previously did. The PS2 reigned over the market for quite a while, but this time around, it will be shared.

Kotaku is a popular gaming blog that is part of the same network as Gizmodo and Lifehacker, and today they have been on a rollercoaster ride with Sony.
